This inflator/jump starter has saved us after two backpacking trips now. It’s our most important piece of gear!

Lanie, Ginger, and Gary rest on a log midway up the hill. We’d posed for a picture here in January, too.
Lanie takes a moment’s rest while on her first backpacking trip.
Lanie and Gary working together to pump cool clean water into our water bottles for the hike out of the wilderness.
It was so hot that Lanie couldn’t resist a wallow in the cold water of Piney Creek.
Piney Creek in Spring
Lanie being Lanie by Piney Creek. We’re teaching her to love being outdoors as much as we do.
Lanie slept well in her tent and woke with a smile. The Birthday Girl was enjoying her first backpacking trip.
Kids are happier when they have their electronics. Here is our daughter reading a book on her iPod. She got bored sitting with us while we drank coffee in the sun.
Our chosen campsite had room for both tents. No one had used this site since our last visit and firewood we’d previously prepared was still waiting for us.
Table Rock Lake Entrance to Piney Creek – Winter 2011
Camped near the shore of Table Rock Lake, Piney Creek Wilderness – Spring 2012
Because the water level of Table Rock Lake varies, the trees at the mouth of Piney Creek are often standing in water.
The low areas near Table Rock lake are quite open in places. The trail as you can see, is very clear
Dappled shade on the ridge was welcome on this hot day. Soon we’d descend into the valley and cross the harsh sun on the glades.

On the steep trails, the water tends to wash away the dirt exposing rugged rocks. The steeper it is, the more rocks. This is particularly nasty to descend. Lake Trail – Piney Creek Wilderness
