I decided to ignore the temperatures in the high nineties and take the kayaks and our youngest daughter out for a short run on the James River. The plan was to put in at the Southwood Access point, go up river and drop back down-river and take-out at Lake Springfield.
Today I managed to break away from my desk and actually get out into the air. I picked an excellent day to get out. The temperature was fine, and we had a fantastic blue sky to contrast with all the greenery.
In 2012 Bass Pro updated the Ascend FS10 and Ascend D10 sit-in kayak models. Previously the hulls were to all intents and purposes identical. The new Ascend FS10 hull retains the same shape. The new Ascend D10 is a completely different boat, which means the previous D10 model reviews cannot be relied upon.
Almost everyone has tried a ‘float trip’. But not many people take their canoes and kayaks out on the lakes. This puzzles us as lake kayaking is an excellent way to see the lakes and get really close to the animals and birds that live near there. It’s also great fun.
There are several types of kayaks and many new styles have come out in the last few years. Kayaking is quickly becoming a popular sport, and for good reason. Nearly everyone lives near a body of water. Kayaking requires (aside from purchase of the kayak, paddle, and life jacket) little outlay of cash. You can enjoy time on the water without having to deal with the expense and struggle of owning a motorized boat. And best of all it can be as easy and peaceful…or as challenging and demanding as you want to make it.
